Fay Alice was founded in London by the designer Faye Smith. It has been based in Berlin since 2008, where all garments are being produced too.
Faye Smith grew up in Berlin-Kreuzberg, directly on the western side of the Berlin Wall.
After completing an apprenticeship as a dressmaker, she studied Fashion Design at the University of Applied Sciences (FHTW), Berlin, and the University of Westminster in London, where she graduated.
She worked in London for designers such as Robert Cary Williams and La Petite Salope, as well as for several costume designers. In 2007 she decided to start her own label, ‘Fay Alice’.
She debuted with her 2009 autumn/winter collection, ‘Lobster Ballet’, and is now being retailed in Germany, Denmark, the United States and in the UK.
